Left Coat

Do you remember the coat
You used to love —
Brown, woven with black
And white threads —
Soft, almost weightless

And the person you were
In those years
When that was your favourite coat

Did you toss it in the bin —
Or drop it in a bag
Outside the charity shop
In that town
Where you once lived

Do you ever wonder
What became of that coat —
And the person
It used to cover

Do you think, maybe
The person too —
Got left behind
Somewhere you left the coat
