Free Healthcare

You get sick
Call emergency
An ambulance arrives
Picks you up and carries you
To a hospital

Where you receive
Treatment or transplant
And sent home
With a new life

What a country — you think
No bills, no cost
Processed, fixed
Housed and released
To face another day —
For free

But with your autonomy the price
As you were triaged, in queue
Life was rationed
Or death administered
What did you really get
For free

And do you ever think
If you got sick
Had no phone
And died —
Slowly or suddenly —
Where you fell

That death came
Free

No cost, no call
No borrowed time
Just you, wherever
However
