First Philosophy

If
Philosophy's concerns is
Life's meaning and worth
Then suicide is
Philosophy’s only problem

If
Philosophy's concerns is
Whether individual — as sovereign —
Exists
Then suicide is
The irrefutable proof

Yet
To speak of suicide at all
One must assume
That individual exists — subject and object —
To itself — capable —
Of acting upon himself

To question meaning
One must already be —
The entity
With capacity — to question

Without assumptions
Conversation is impossible

Existence must
Precede meaning
To converse
About meaning

Suicide enacts —
What nothing else does

Individual's demonstration
Of utter ownership
Over —
His existence

His power
To fully dispose — destroy —
Including — the destroyer —
Himself

Unfounded
On individual sovereignty
No enquiry
Has coherence

Ungrounded on Individual
Ethics and politics
Are phantoms

And philosophy
Remains aborted
