Daimon

There is such a thing —

Though you may call it
By another name —
Dharma, integrity
Soul —
Some inner demon
Even love

It says something like:

Whatever the cost

And something like:

This — and nothing else

It is like feet
That would not —
Could not —
Leave the ground
They stand on

Even when the ground
Scorches
Tears

Even when your own hands
And head
Try to lift them off —
Just to sit back
Stretch
Lie down

It’s not something
You can do
Or not do

It’s something
You watch
Happen
