I Am-ing

To say I am requires
Language
Experience
And their meeting

In deep sleep, coma, or death
I cannot say I am
Though experience may persist
I cannot know

Now, I have both
Language and experience
What is — this experience

What but a process
Flowing
Never a fixed state

I am does not point to an entity —
It reflects a movement —
A process

Saying I am
Or awareness is
Is misleading —
Implying subject or object

It is truer to say
I am-ing —
Awareness-ing happens

A tree —
Does not refer to a fixed object
Nor experienced as one
Its experience is
Tree-ing
Leaves, sky, wind
And me observing

Awareness too —
Inseparable from what is perceived
Is awareness-ing

Consciousness too —
Is not the screen — real
And its content unreal
Its consciousness-ing

The source of this happening
Can never be known
Because the knowing
And the one wanting to know

Is the movement —
The process itself

All I know
All that lets me say I am
Is this

Happening is happening
