Has anything ever
Happened —
A second too soon
Or an instant too late
There can only be
Three possibilities
One — things happen
Too soon, or too late
The timing got messed up
Somewhere upstream — and now
It is off, forever —
In all directions
Two — things happen
Neither early nor late
But precisely on time
But how could that be —
Unless someone, somewhere
Is holding time still —
Frozen in place
For that delay on the road
That traffic jam —
How could it not
Make thousands of things
Late
Three —
Things aren’t happening
At all
Does living — in accord
With the logical conclusion
That time is impossible
That nothing ever happens
Before or after its time —
Mean surrendering
Allowing
But do these
Not assume
Things happening
Presume the existence
Of time itself
Is surrendering, allowing
Letting things be —
Not absurdity
Resting on time
But of course —
Living, in accord
Or otherwise
Cannot happen —
For there is no time
On which
Anything
Could happen
Must not this lead
To the final conclusion —
That
Nothing has ever happened
That
Nothing
Ever
Is
And yet
Reality cares not
For conclusion
And ensures
That only it —
And not what is
Could ever
Ever
Come into
