Spacetime

Have I ever experienced
Time itself
What I experience is motion —
A process of going through —
An objective phenomenon

To be perceived
An object must have dimensions —
Height, width, and depth

It also requires space —
The field in which
Those dimensions can be measured

For the object to appear
And move through space
Space itself must be
Motionless, dimensionless

Otherwise
The motion and dimension of the object
Would be impossible

As motionless, dimensionless space
Is essential to perceive an object’s dimension
So motionless, dimensionless time
Is essential to perceive its motion

Space is thus
Spacetime —
One motionless, dimensionless ground
In which all perception
Takes place

Yet —
The object has no inherent existence
For its perception depends
On that which precedes it

In the objective world —
Upon spacetime

And in experience —
Upon the perceiver

The perceiver, then —
Is one with spacetime

For without either
The perceived object remains unseen
Remains unmanifest

Spacetime, therefore
Must be what
I am —
