When I Just See

Why would I care to know
The speed of light
The incalculable distance between stars
Counts of galaxies and cosmic infinity

Why would I care to see
Any spectacle on sky or lands
Marvels of past, wonders of future
Nature and shapes of species

Why would I care to hear
About virtues and sins —
Avatars, their legacies
And the fleeting span of bodies

Why would I care
To be asked in a million ways

To reference, measure
And look at myself
From the outside

When I just see
That without this seeing
Nameless untouchability —

None of the above
Or below
Would ever — could ever
Be
