Samsara

Trapped in a world
Of competing demands —
From inside and out
Longing to rest

Hatched into form
An empty shape
With skin stitched on

What can a man do
But go berserk —

Snap
Rage
Turn on himself
Claw out the eyes
Slice off the ears
Slash the feet
Gnaw the hands

Infest, blight
Set ablaze
His heart
His mind —

Annihilate
Erase
His very being

And then what

Disgusted
By the dullness
Of non-being —
The eternal monotony

Would you not return
Wearing another skin

Just to do it
All again
