Manufacture Of Lack

Does attractiveness signify
A presence — quality or quantity —
In the object perceived

Or is it lack —
An absence
In the one attracted, the perceiver

Do hunger —
And sexual desire —
Not make this clear

Attraction — and desire —
Reside in the one who perceives:
Wanting
Lacking

Attraction and desire
Are other names
For lack
In the perceiver

And if so —
If attraction does not reside
In the object perceived —

Might it not mean, then
That all these products —
Sold to enhance attractiveness
Of the object, in the object
Are, in fact

Made for —
Designed to —

Enhance
Accentuate
Sharpen
The sense of lack
In the subject —
The perceiver

While sold under the pretence
And bought with the conviction
That they exist
To enhance attractiveness
Of — and in — the object

Thus —
Creating
A lack of attractiveness
In the object

That never existed before
