I long for a confidant who knows
My petty miseries
Pointless struggles
Fleeting pleasures —

Someone to stand beside me
Through sleepless nights
Of grief
The daily strife

I know —
Such a one exists nowhere
But here
Where I am
And have always been

And yet
Sometimes —
I still wish
That confidant
Were someone

But me
