War On Myself

Is cancer winning
Let’s outsmart it
Beat it, battle it, fight it
Conquer the cancer

Fight the disease
Keep battling, overcome
Break—
The addictions, the habits

Fight for life
Win the war
Turn it around
Never back down

Battle, fight, beat
Win, conquer
Break — again

Don’t lose the battle
Don’t fail
You failed — didn’t win the war
Now get up, fight harder

What the fuck —
Is this language

Who came up with these ideas
Who still believes — today —
That these phrases
These slogans

Are useful, helpful
Precise, and reflect reality
In any way whatsoever

Are people stupid
Are common, ordinary folks
Stupid imbeciles —
That they need this kind of language

Or is it that the government
Politicians, and media
Believe that
Everyone is a dumb asshole
Who needs to be turned into

A bare-knuckled fighting moron
Against himself
