Unseduced

Stopping seeing distortion
Does not mean stopping seeing
It means seeing undistorted
Disillusionment —

An eyes-open view
Without layers of emotions
Melancholy, nostalgia, sentimentality
Borrowed meaning

Like coming to see —
That a family member
Spouse, sibling, child or parent
Someone you spent an entire lifetime with

With whom you made efforts
To be known, seen, understood
Understands you the least —

Seeing that the efforts
Expectation, hope, desire — and grief —
When expectations are unmet

Were born out of assigning words
Prepackaged with emotions

To something like a house animal
That cohabited, shared the same ground
And walls
Of a house with you

Seeing your dearest family member
Unseduced by the sentiment
Of dearest and family
Is stopping seeing distortion —
Disillusionment

That no society
No culture and no religion
Promotes
