Threshold

Hear, O watcher —
Listener
Seer
Of this world
And of yourself

Through this body —
Set down
Still
Lying in bed

Sight
Of the ceiling
Wall
Window

Sensations faded
Breath slowed
Sounds
Feelings
Grief and pain
Memories
And hopes
Snuffed
In silence

Dissolving
Setting free
The binds
Of time
Of this world

Drop the world
Just here
Nothing to hold
To touch
No more waiting
To begin
To end

Let life
Merge
With death

Both ceasing
