Those Who Know: Speak

For an entire lifetime
I wrote
Wondering
If I might stumble
On a true word —

A construction of sounds
To hold in my hand
And show
As the one
And only true word

Having learned
Thousands of words
And millions of sounds —
Not a single word
I could find
That was true

Hoping no more —
To write
A true word
Or convey
A true thing

Now
I am free
To write
Everything and anything
That can be written
And free to speak
Any word

Knowing
That all are hollow words
Empty sounds —
And no true word
Has ever been spoken
Nor can be
