The Unshared
Who can you entrust
What’s written for yourself
Stirrings
In the emptiness
Like a child’s drawing —
Letters of a teen
Thoughts, feelings, private worlds
That you dare not speak —
Images within the mind —
You dare not show —
How do you convey
Who can you entrust
The shape of what’s underneath
The facade —
You write —
Baring yourself
Feeling — knowing — being alone
Free to expose —
All madness
Wretched ramblings
Plagues and scars
Landscapes — of heart
Drawing —
The most intimate portrait
Most honest image
Of your soul —
And you know that if unshared —
Unseen by any other —
You have but only shown
Only shared — a mask
And you also know —
That the urge to expose
To even set down on paper
Is but the need — unfulfilled —
To be seen
Wholly seen
