Ignorance

Agents of organised religions —
Theologians, evangelists
Have the impulse

To look outside
And to draw the other
Away from himself

Religions themselves —
Fragments of utterances
Narratives and texts
Have no such impulse

Any string of words —
Traced from within
From the place where words originate —
Only ever points
Inward

God of the organised religions
Is the plaque
Upon the institutional walls

Stolen from — relinquished by —
Each follower
Sold back to him

That he can once again —
Seek as a treasure

Or see as the price —
Of ignorance
