Growing Up

What’s growing up
But seeing —
And then seeing through
The impossibilities

As standing on a rooftop
Looking at the ground below
Knowing the impossibility
Of escaping the fall

And then
Again —
Looking down
And jumping anyway —

Now
Not to escape the fall
But to embrace
The ground below

Knowing —
That ceaseless, interminable knowing
Remains —
Through the fall, smashing into the ground
Untouched

What’s growing up
But seeing
And seeing through impossibilities
Walking and striving
Jumping and breaking
Through them all —

Standing —
Untouched
