Cessation

Whoever, anywhere —
Who stumbles upon
Truth —
Comes upon a truth identical
To the truth
That anyone, anywhere
Has ever come across
Or ever will

And even though
When encountered — it is obvious —
The impulse remains —
To see it reflected back
In the corresponding expressions
Of others who have found it

The impossible task of speaking
Of truth —
Becomes the inescapable
Heritage and responsibility
Of those who encounter it

For without that speaking
No one, anywhere —
Would even embark on the pursuit
Of truth —

Even if to find
That one pursuing — is it
Or to see —
That it isn’t

In either case
The outcome is identical —
Cessation of the pursuit
Of truth
