Cat And I

The cat
Has never stopped
Being cat

Through all these years
Days and nights — in all places
Among all moments

And I —
What have I never stopped
Being

No shape, no name
Can I find
I have never ceased
To be —

Even as human —
Who can say

Is it not
Only I —
Being

Both cat — and I
Have never ceased —
Being

But what are words —
Just more sounds

Just as there will be
No cat
One day
There will be
No human
No I
No being
To know —
Cat or my
Being

Maybe even now —
Does a day
Itself — exist
For the cat

Is there — for me —
A day —
For being

I do not know
But I see —
The cat sitting
On the windowsill
Looking

As I sit —
Upon my seat
Looking

Could it be —
Both the cat
And I

Have always been
Nothing
But
The looking
